Paoletti ’06 Nero Cuvee Speciale

November 27th, 2009 | Leave a comment

I’ve fallen hard for Sicilian wines, especially Nero D’Avola, with a prejudice towards those vineyards on the Southern tip that are organic and pushing towards Living Wine status with no sulfites and natural yeast methods.  But I’m not a purist and like to test my palate. Enter one of my old time favorite Napa Cab producers, Paoletti, an original innovator back in the day with Cabernet Sauvignon.

They do a 100% Nero D’Avola with grapes grown in Northern Napa.  Honestly, I don’t know much about the methods in the vineyard or the current winemaker.

What I do know is that this early innovator, has created a great bottle of wine. It’s Sicily meets California innovation. And innovation wherever it is is good, especially when it passes the taste test.

Bold. Huge. Unique. Find it and try it!
